Quiet Trip

We're on the road again this past Sunday! Once again, to Port Elgin to ride with Sue. The weather was much more pleasant this time. Instead of freezing cold temperatures like -30 it was sunny and slightly above 0!

This time it was a quiet trip. There are usually lots of passengers, young and old, on board when Ambre and I go to a show or clinic. This time, it was just the two of us. The season has not even started and are they already giving up?! Well, other than missing a turn and therefore driving the wrong way we had no trouble getting there. Then, the fact that I literally lost my voice over the weekend because of a cold kept the trip quiet as well! But all that didn't cause the trip to be any less fun! We had an excellent day!

Ambre took Wanja with her and I had Kionus. We both had wonderful rides and were very pleased with the horses. Riding with Sue is always great fun and very encouraging! She's planning on coming to PEI in April. If you're interested in riding let me know!

What is Dressage?

I have been asked that question countless times. Even after explaining people can still have a confused look on their face. Today, I read "The Amazing New Dressage Test" and maybe this a way to explain it?? Some of you may already seen it since it's already a few years old but I'm sure those of you who don't know it you will have a great laugh!

Successful Clinic

Friday was a busy spot at the barn! Nine horse & riders participated in the Sue Fraser clinic that was funded by Dressage PEI. Several people also stopped in to show their interest by watching and listening to some of the lessons.

As usual I had wonderful rides with Sue! We worked quite a bit on the half passes with Kionus and I could feel that they started to improve throughout the lesson! Conner worked hard but went very nice. He's such a steady horse that will just get into a rhythm that you almost never have to worry about. Ambre & Trinny and Me & Dexter decided to have a semi private lesson. Dexter went very nice and he's getting back into shape again. I think we must give credit to Trinny, because I think he's the one that worked the hardest during that lesson, maybe even the hardest all day!

It was a wonderful day and I was very glad we could make it happen. Within a few weeks we are hopefully on the road again to ride with Sue on the mainland. Before the show season starts we would just like to get a few more lessons and around this time of the year it is a perfect opportunity to do so! Hopefully, some clinic pictures next time!

Clinic Friday

If weather permits, Dressage PEI will be hosting a dressage clinic with Level III dressage coach Sue Fraser Friday March 3rd. The clinic will be held at Gary's barn in New Haven.

Sue will be teaching nine different horse/rider combinations. I'm looking forward to the clinic so that we can continue to work on the things Sue taught us a few weeks ago.

If you happen to be in the area between 11 and 7 don't hesitate to stop by and come take a look yourself! Even from watching you can always learn a lot!
