Blainville
It was an excellent trip to Blainville! We left around 5am Sunday June 25. After 15 hours we arrived in Blainville, Quebec. It was still very quiet on the showgrounds, but a few of the Nova Scotia riders had already arrived the day before and had set up the things in the barn. Kionus had a good trip; luckily, it wasn't as hot as last year and he was coping with it much better!
Sue and some others from NB arrived from the Ottawa show mid Monday morning. Later that day we had a lesson. Kionus went alright, we did a lot of suppling because he had become a bit stiff from standing on the trailer for such a long time. On Tuesday, we had another lesson and he already went much better.
The actual show started on Wednesday. This year is was a four day show! First, I had to ride Fourth Level Test I. I had never ridden that test so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Kionus went nice and I was pleased! Shortly after my ride they announced my score: 66%! In that test, we placed second in the open division! Towards the middle of the afternoon I rode my third level test I. I had ridden that test many times before so you would figure I'd know that one by now. Actually... I went off course twice! oops! Anyway, with a score of 62% I was still pleased.
In the evenings we had nice BBQ's with the other Maritime riders. It was very enjoyable and very relaxing. It was nice not be rushed for a week and just hang out with others and Kionus of course!
My other tests went good as well. I received 60's and had another seventh place finish in one of my third level tests. The tests were all very consistant.
The highlight of the week was almost the Saturday evening Gala. We sure had lots of rain and got soaked with it was so nice to see so many upper level freestyles. This year I watched a lot of the FEI classes. They had a record number of FEI riders this year!
Once again, at 5am we left Blainville and arrived back home approximately 9. A long trip, but so worth it! Kionus had a few days off, but now he's back at it for the next show in Port Elgin.
Well, there are some pictures posted below. I could talk about this trip forever but I won't. If you want to hear or see more....just ask!
