Whiscalina Shines at CDI Blainville

Week I Whiscalina Wins FEI 5 Year Old Division & Reserve Champion First Level

It was an amazing week at the Blainville Equestrian Park just north of Montreal. For the first time we entered in a CDI competition. Whiscalina scored a solid 7.58 in the FEI 5 year old Preliminary test and won the test! The international panel of judges commented on Whiscalina's correct way of going, excellent submissiveness, and confidence in the rider. On the second day, we improved our score in the final test to a 7.8 and again a first place ribbon. Since I am still hold the Dutch nationality it was an amazing experience to hear the Dutch anthem being played for us on both days.

We also showed in several first level tests in the national show. This was the last time Whiscalina was shown in first level and she did wonderful. Several 70's and high 60's were given to us and we became the First Level Open Reserve Champion.

Week II Whiscalina Wins FEI 5 Year Old Preliminary Test & Champion Second Level

After having a day of rest the second show continued on Tuesday where Whiscalina and I competed in Second Level. Although, we just moved up to this level we scored solid 70's and received first place ribbons.
The CDI show s
tarted on Thursday and Whiscalina continued to be great. We received a 7.6 and once again the Dutch anthem was played in the Blainville Equestrian Park. The international panel of judges commented on how well and correct Whiscalina was trained. It was a very nice compliment for me as well as my wonderful coach Susan Fraser. On day 2, we were missing a bit of spark and ended up with a score of 6.9 and a fourth place.

On Saturday evening we were awarded the Second Level Open Championship! It was Whiscalina's second show in this level but she won the championship with a big lead of more than 6 points.

This trip to Blainville is absolutely unforgettable for many reasons! Show and winning a CDI competition is a major milestone and receiving the wonderful comments from international judges was amazing. Also, winning the second level championship is something I never expected since we just recently started showing this. Whiscalina and I had an indescribable partnership and connection the past two weeks! She is very special! At this moment she is on a well deserved pasture break before we continue to compete at some of the dressage shows throughout the Maritimes.
